PRIVACY & THE BETA · 17 OCTOBER 2026
A little clarity.
Kuchu Puchu is an early Mac beta for exchanging avatar gestures with people you invite. This page explains the current behavior; it is not a promise of uninterrupted service.
This website
The download website does not ask you to create an account, does not use advertising trackers, and has no analytics scripts or marketing cookies. The hosting provider, GitHub Pages, may process ordinary request information under its own privacy policy. Downloading does not automatically connect you to another person.
Your Mac app
Your chosen name, avatar, connection information, received greetings, and playback receipts are cached on your Mac. Your private device credential is stored in macOS Keychain. It is not your Mac password, and the app does not send your Mac password to the connection service.
Connecting with someone
The connection service stores your profile, a hash of your private device credential, your invitation code, connections, greetings, and temporarily shared states. The updated Supabase edition uses a Supabase-hosted database and server function. Earlier versions use the previous connection service; installing an update does not transfer the old server’s records automatically.
Requests are authenticated with the device credential. Only connected people can exchange greetings. Share your invitation code privately: anyone with it can request a connection in this beta. There is no public profile directory.
Encryption and controls
Traffic uses HTTPS. Greetings are not end-to-end encrypted: the service processes and stores message text. Private preview hides speech text locally; it does not remove messages from the service. Pause sharing, remove a connection, or delete a profile from the app’s Settings. Removing a connection removes its exchanges on the current service for both people; deleting a profile removes its associated records on that service. Cached copies or backups may remain on another person’s Mac.
Free hosting and delivery
The app needs to be running to receive greetings. Offline greetings wait until reconnection. Free hosting has quotas and may pause after inactivity; it is not guaranteed to stay available or free forever. The beta has no email account recovery or automatic transfer of your Keychain credential to a new Mac.
Early distribution
The beta currently requires an Apple Silicon Mac with macOS 14 or later. It is locally signed and not Apple-notarized. Stable Apple Developer ID signing is still pending, so an updated development build may prompt again for Keychain permission.
